munchKINS is 3 months

The past couple weeks have been so unpredictable. I THOUGHT she had a schedule, but after 2 days and her shots, she never went back to those lovely 2 hr naps. The only thing that I can count on (at least during the typical day) is that 45min-an hr after she eats, she is ready to sleep. Whether that is 5 min or an hr, she'll be ready for sleep.

She has even taken a couple naps in her crib! Recently, I've been painting our bedroom, so she'll lay on the bed and eventually go to sleep on her own without fussing. She also loves to watch Rachel Zoe Project shows on tv. She also likes to stare at the fans-- especially when i turn it off and it begins to go slower.

New things she's been doing:

- rolled over from her stomach to her back

- gurgling and smiling... i think this is her way of talking. She stares at the tv and does this all day.

- laughs so hard she makes a sound trying to catch her breath

- her hands explore more and more, grabbing certain things (like mommy's hair), and she rubs my skin. She also has found her hands. She sucks on them a lot and tries to fit her whole fist(s) in her mouth. She's found her thumb a couple times, but prefers the whole hand. She even brings other things to her mouth to suck on (mommy's hair, thumb, wrist, arm, her loveys, and finally the paci is becoming a regular).

- kicks her legs as fast as they will go (which makes trying to change a poopy diaper THAT much harder)

- loveys... mr. snuggles, lovey, rabbit, and blankie are all her favorite sleep friends. She needs one in each hand (and occasionally on top of her head).

- she sticks her arms and feet straight up (which looks hilarious when she's in her bassinet and all we can see is little legs)

- Apparently she's taken a liking to my arm... when I hold her sideways she latches on and if I pull her off she cries. I've let her suck there too long and got a gigantic hickey on my arm! Now, I've learned to have a paci in the other hand, let her suck a little and then shove a paci in.

- she LOVES to stand up... we say "Kinsley, you are SUCH a big girllll!" and she grins so big, showing all her gums and laughs. She's so proud. She especially loves when Foxy is looking at her do it haha

- She notices Foxy more. She'll make eye contact and laugh (Kinsley, not Foxy haha). I think she loves that they are both so little. I make Foxy gives her kisses on her nose.

- She can keep her head level with her body when we slowly pull her up to sitting position, and then she puts her feet down and pushes herself up to stand all in one motion.

- She got a Jenny-Jump-Up (bouncy seat that hangs in a doorway) from a friend, and she's not quite sure about it. She loves it for about 10 seconds, but doesn't quite fit in it yet, so I think the uncomfortableness makes her fussy.

- Last night, while laying on her back, she lifted her head/back up about 45 degrees trying to sit up

We had a week of crazy fussiness... could have been a growth spurt? She wanted to eat a lot and she didn't want to be put down. Needless to say, we've been housebound for a bit. She's been getting better this week. We took her to the ice cream festival downtown with Papa John and Shuggy. And we've been going on walks around the neighborhood, which she seems to enjoy, but Foxy likes to ride under the stroller.

As for mommy

I'm down 31lbs out of the 35 that I gained during pregnancy whoop whoop! 2-3 Weeks after labor, I lost most of it naturally, then I was stuck with about 12 lbs. So I gave myself a 90 day "diet" (more of a detox from sugar and carbs) starting July1 and decided to cut out desserts, and try to eat less carbs, unless they are wheat. The first 45 days, I lost 6lbs... now I've got 4 more to go! I haven't really been going to the gym yet either. I already fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans and that feels great! I really think it's due to my shrinx hips wrap thing. I wish I would have used it more! I guess i'll save it for the next babe! I hope to be a size smaller after.

Trying to Talk

I love her little coos and giggles and most of all when she tries to talk. Sometimes we talk baby talk together and sometimes we try big girl talk.

10 weeks

We had her 2 month dr appt today... and yes, I realize we are a little late... perhaps it was knowing that I was making an appt for shots that made me delay...

She is 22inches & 11.8lbs ( about 2 lbs more than she was 5 weeks ago).. definitely a growing girl! ha

She got all her shots and 1 liquid medicine by mouth... talk about hurting my heart. I hated watching her eyes get big and scream while they poked her 3 times :( I cried, too. I know it's better in the long run, but I hate watching my baby go through pain. We went straight to the drug store and got some baby pain reliever and she's been sleeping on mommy's lap ever since. We don't go back for another 2 months! yay!

They said we can feed her water or mild juice on hot days if we want. And at 4 months, we can go to rice cereal, or wait until 6 months. Breastfeeding has gotten A LOT better. No pain and being on a schedule has helped. She goes about 3hrs in between feedings, and i've learned that eating MORE does NOT mean she can go longer in between... she will spit it up if she overfeeds.

I still have a hard time leaving her, and I know a lot of first-times moms that don't, but I've let daddy keep her while I run to a photography gig and occasionally I'll let her grandma's watch her if i'll be gone only a little while. I still hate every second I'm away. I have gotten to know her so well, that I can decipher what she needs pretty quickly, so she doesn't cry much with me. After all, I do have the boobies haha.

Yesterday, July, 29 she found her thumb! ha... she's only found it a couple times, but she spends lots of time trying.

She rolled from her stomach to her back a couple times one day... but it's not a regular thing, and she can't roll from her back to her stomach at all yet.

She upgraded from newborn diapers to size one this month and has now outgrown her newborn clothes. But that's okay... we took a trip with sarah and baby bryleigh to the tot trade consignment show and got plenty more :)

I'm a little behind on posting..oops! But i'll try to be better on getting updates up!
