I've decided to post regularly about cute things I find for a mommy-to-be and her baby. I LOVE looking at other mommy bloggers or mommy-to-be blogs for ideas.. so here are some of my fav's:

The Big Reveal Party

We had our families over to find out what we were having- a WEEK after we already knew. Talk about holding in a secret! Totally not recommended.

We had vanilla cupcakes made by Polkadot Bakery filled with pink filling. We handed everyone a cupcake and had them bite into it to reveal the sex of the baby.

Here's the video:

Here's mom calling Nana & Pops:

After the sex was revealed, the kitchen area had been decorated in everything pink! We enjoyed yummy dishes that everyone brought and chatted about spoiling that little princess!

It's a GIRL!

On the way to the ultra sound, i had to prepare for  hearing it was a boy, even though my instincts and heart really wanted a girl. My anxiety grew as the nurse went through every body part and organ, EXCEPT the gender revealing one. Our baby was sitting straight up looking at us and the nurse had to jiggle my tummy to make our baby move to better positions. Finally, our baby sat with legs spread and the nurse pointed out the lines that made her a GIRL!

Tears filled my eyes and ran down my face. I was so excited!

As soon as we left the doctor's, I began my shopping for my little princess to come!

I'll be posting some favorite baby things I find!

I already bought these newborn flower headbands:

We KNOW!

Today we found out what we are having! BUT we can't tell! But everything looks good! We looked at all the major organs, and saw our baby has 5 fingers and toes, a pumping heart and a developing little body. It was so precious! Here are some pics:

and the munchies begin

The last two weeks I ran 19 miles, had a kick for the gym and I was back to healthy eating... this week I am the opposite..AGAIN. I rather go to bed as soon as I get off work and I find myself snacking more and more. I won't necessarily be "hungry" but when my tummy makes that growling noise like it's empty, I can't help but think, "maybe the baby ate it all already."

*I craved a bran muffin today (the kind with no nuts or raisins).
*Right now I'm eating cheeze-its.
*And I can't wait to get off work and stop by the Chick-fil-a for some nuggets on my drive to a photography gig.

We find out tomorrow the sex of the little peanut. I'm still hoping for a girl and Gray's still hoping it's a boy, but I think that's pretty common for girls who have never had brothers and for boys who love sports.

Though WE will know tomorrow at approx. 2:30pm, the rest of the world won't until Dec. 17th at the reveal party. I have NO IDEA how we are going to keep our mouths shut for a whole week! crazy!

My belly feels a little bigger this week.
It's a toss up on which is worse- getting on the scale or giving blood at the doctor.

The closer it gets to Christmas, the more I learn a different side of the Christmas Story. At church yesterday, we were talking about Mary, mother of Jesus, and Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist. If you've read the stories about how they got pregnant you know it is amazing.

Every year we discuss how the virgin Mary traveled to Bethlehem to give birth to the Savior in a manger because there was no room in the Inn... but I sympathize SO much more now being pregnant myself. If I get hungry, I'll stop anywhere to get something to eat so the baby doesn't go hungry. If I feel tired and don't feel like going to the gym, I go take a nap instead. The Doctor even puts limits on your activity and even on traveling the month before you're due.

But now I think about Mary. Young. Unmarried. Hormonal. Surrounded by stressful circumstances. Hungry. Tired. And traveling all the way to Bethlehem on a DONKEY. (I'm sure my doctor would advise against THAT too.) I'm beginning to see Mary in a different way. I see her obedience through the blindness. I see her devotion through the stress. I'm appreciating the simple things this season.

Here's the belly at 17 weeks.
